
Beginning shortly, Strategic Futures International will publish
, a newsletter for clients, colleagues,
and new friends around the world. Its purpose will be to share
ideas about applied futures research within the strategic futures
context--including not just what is news, but reflections by SFI
staff on past developments and on problems and prospects that
appear worth attention as we move toward the Third Millennium.
Among topics planned for early issues of : The first detailed discussion of the Focused Planning
Effort (FPE) process, a type of small-group activity used successfully
in many applications by SFI principals over the last 25 years
but little known in the field A no-nonsense discussion of the different types of scenarios--what they are, how they are constructed, what purposes they serve

Comments on "re-engineering the strategic management process"
by SFI's Managing Partner in the UK, Trevor Hunwicks, who coined
this apt phrase Highly critical reviews of certain widely discussed

indicator-based survey of professional judgment on the directions
of change An update of a classic paper by Wayne Boucher, SFI's Managing Partner, on how
