Hope for Using Wood Pellets as a Future Biofuel
People unfamiliar with them may find using wood pellets as a future biofuel doubtful; but there is hope.
Some countries already use them more than they use any other fuel for heating their homes. There are many new wood pellet-making plants
cropping up in the United States. Some institutions have made it their business to heat with wood pellets.
Imagine a university in the US starting the trend of using wood pellets as a future biofuel. The wood pellet production and use is all
carried out by students. The products are used at the university. It is a complete system.
First, students are employed by the makers of the wood pellets. They learn more about the workplace. They also earn money for
their tuition, books, housing, or other needs. It is a perfect fit for students who are not afraid of work.
Other students are employed by the school to transport the wood pellets. Because the university is close to the pellet factory, it is
easy. This could be one key to using wood pellets as a future biofuel. The factories need to be sprinkled about the country so that
no one is too far from one. This will cut down on pollution and cost of transportation.
The university has boilers that are fueled by wood pellets or Holzpellets. These boilers need to be stoked with wood pellets every day, several times per day. More students
are paid to keep the boilers supplied with wood pellets.
Aside from the hope for using wood pellets as a future biofuel, this gives students a sense of accomplishment. As the boilers produce
steam to heat the campus, the students can see that they had a part in the process. The buildings are warm and the students
prosper.
The question arises, though, as to whether wood pellets can be used as a future biofuel. People claim that forests are being used up and
it is irresponsible to use wood products. It seems a little strange, since humans have always used wood for heat.
The truth is that forests do well from being cleared of their dead limbs and trees. This would supply a large amount of wood pellets to
be used as a future biofuel. It has been a practice of forestry departments to set a controlled burn in forests to clear them out. It
would be so much better if that wood could be put to use.
Also, people do not appear to be ready to give up using wood for building and furniture any time soon. As long as this is the case,
there will be sawdust and wood scrap to make the wood pellets that can be used as a future biofuel.
If people are interested in using wood pellets as a future biofuel, they would do well to start planting trees now. If a continual
planting process goes on, it should help to keep the wood reserves replenished. As long as forests are not being slashed and burned
indiscriminately, there should not be a problem. Wood pellets could help heat the future.
